Privacy & Data Handling
OR Timeline is designed to provide families with simple, reassuring status updates during procedures — without collecting or storing protected health information (PHI).
What we store
- Procedure status updates (e.g. “In OR”, “In Recovery”)
- Timestamps for each status update
- A randomly generated access code for the case
What we do NOT store
- Patient names
- Dates of birth
- Diagnoses or procedures
- Medical record numbers
- Any identifiable health information
Access codes
Each case is associated with a randomly generated access code. This code is shared by staff with the patient’s family or support persons. Anyone with the code can view the timeline, but no identifying information is displayed.
Data retention
Case data is automatically set to expire after approximately 24 hours. This keeps timelines short-lived and reduces long-term data storage.
Security
OR Timeline uses secure cloud infrastructure and access-controlled staff dashboards. Only authorized staff members can create and update cases.
